A Healing Journey with Mother Nature

than anything else I have ever done.” – E.C. 2014

Update from the Center for Earth-Based Healing's Executive Director
Due to the unexpected loss of our primary funding source in 2019, the Center for Earth-Based Healing is pushing pause on offering programs in 2020. We have created a Revisioning Council, and the individuals serving on the Revisioning Council will spend 2020 engaging in an intentional process of revisioning our trauma-informed ecotherapy programs for survivors of sexual and domestic violence as well as seeking out sustainable and stable funding sources.

We also believe revisioning is necessary as our socio-cultural context and understanding of trauma has changed significantly since the camp model that we have utilized for the past 5 years was first introduced in 2005.  Additionally, the Center for Earth-Based Healing has collected data from survivors who have attended our programs for the past three years, and we know that our programs have almost exclusively served survivors who identify as cisgender, able-bodied women, with the majority identifying as caucasian/white. Whereas we fully intend to continue serving survivors who belong to these demographics, the Revisioning Council also feels it is time to consider how we can design and offer trauma-informed ecotherapy programs that are inclusive and accessible to all survivors of sexual and domestic violence, particularly those belonging to underserved populations.  Our goal is to revision our programs so they:
1. Require fewer financial and material resources
2. Reach and serve higher numbers of survivors of sexual and domestic violence per year
3. Become fully inclusive and accessible to all survivors, particularly those belonging to underserved populations, for example,  women of color, LGBTQ (including non-binary), survivors with physical disabilities, survivors who are deaf and/or hard of hearing, men, youth, Spanish-speaking, the elderly, etc.

Our website and Facebook page will be updated as the revisioning process unfolds and new information becomes available to share. If you would like to recommend a resource that you feel would support our revisioning process, please fill out our Contact Form. Thank you.
